Foot & Ankle Conditions

Our feet and ankles are very complex natural structures, made to move in a wide variety of ways and endure plenty of challenging forces and environments.

Unfortunately, they are not invincible, and plenty of conditions can arise that interfere with your comfort, mobility, or quality of life. When they do, it is important to receive timely and effective care!

Our doctors have years of experience treating a vast variety of podiatric problems. A number of common areas are outlined here, but do not hesitate to contact us if your concerns do not seem to match what you find on this page. Whatever your foot or ankle issue may be, odds are extremely likely that we can help—and on the very rare chance we can’t, we can refer you to a specialist who can.

Heel & Arch Pain

Consistent pain felt along the heel or arch is by far one of the most common symptoms we see. You are far from alone if you are dealing with discomfort on a daily basis, but the good news is that most causes of such pain can be effectively treated via non-surgical methods.

Causes of heel or arch pain can include:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Achilles Tendinitis
  • Flat Feet

Skin & Nail Care

Skin and nails are about more than looking good. They provide important protection from infection and damage, as well! It is well worth treating problems caused by infection, exposure, and friction to help maintain your overall well-being.

Common skin and nail conditions include:

  • Ingrown Toenails
  • Plantar Warts
  • Fungal Nails
  • Athlete’s Foot
  • Corns and Calluses

Nerve Pain

Nerve pain in the feet can be accompanied by burning, tingling, numbness, or “shooting” sensations, as well as be hypersensitive to touch (even the rub of a bedsheet at night may set off a flare of pain. Sometimes nerve pain is the result of sports injuries or compression, but conditions such as poor circulation and diabetes can also be responsible.

It is crucial that any suspected causes of nerve pain are properly evaluated and treated, especially if you live with diabetes. Addressing nerve pain issues and maintaining optimal nerve health now can help prevent more serious problems from developing in the future.

Sports Injuries

The feet and ankles can be highly susceptible to injuries during activity, simply due to the forces they must sustain and the wide range of movements we may put them through. Injuries can occur from sudden forces or trauma, or by repetitive impacts weakening an area over time.

Our approach to sports injuries is to get the patient back to moving as quickly and safely as possible, as well as making recommendations to help prevent future injures from occurring.

Common foot and ankle sports injuries include:

  • Ankle Sprains
  • Stress Fractures
  • Achilles Tendinitis
  • Bursitis

Toe Deformities

Bunions, hammertoes, and other types of toe deformities can be a longtime source of pain and aggravation for many. But that does not mean you just have to endure symptoms without any end in sight! There are many conservative forms of treatment that can provide substantial relief of discomfort and help maintain mobility.

Remember, the earlier a deformity is diagnosed and treated, the more effective that treatment can be. Even children and teens can start to develop bunions and other deformities, so not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns.
