Custom Orthotics

Custom Orthotics for Foot Pain Relief

Many types of foot and ankle pain begin with structural imbalances. When the feet are not properly aligned or supported, stress is placed on areas that are not designed to absorb excess pressure. Custom orthotics are a proven, effective solution that podiatrists use to correct these issues and restore proper foot function.

At Midwest Podiatry Centers, we proudly provide custom-made orthotics, including advanced 3D-printed orthotics created using Fitstation® technology, to ensure every patient receives support tailored precisely to their unique foot structure.

What Can Custom Orthotics Treat?

Your feet are complex structures designed to distribute body weight efficiently and keep you moving comfortably. However, factors such as genetics, previous injuries, foot deformities, or medical conditions can disrupt this balance.

When abnormal pressure or motion occurs, it can lead to pain, instability, and injury—not only in the feet, but throughout the body. Poor foot mechanics often affect your gait, forcing muscles and joints in the ankles, knees, hips, and lower back to compensate.

Custom orthotic inserts correct these issues by:

  • Redistributing pressure evenly across the foot
  • Providing targeted cushioning and corrective support
  • Improving alignment and walking mechanics
  • Reducing strain on joints and soft tissues

Custom orthotics are commonly used to help relieve:

Just like prescription glasses, custom orthotics work best when they are designed specifically for you. While they do not permanently “cure” foot conditions, consistent use provides long-term relief, improved mobility, and better overall comfort.

A comprehensive podiatric evaluation is essential, as not every condition requires orthotics. In some cases, alternative treatments may be more appropriate.

Advanced Fitstation® & 3D-Printed Orthotics

We use Fitstation® and Go-4D technology to deliver one of the most advanced custom orthotics systems available today. This state-of-the-art approach allows for unmatched accuracy and comfort. Fitstation® technology is currently available at our Richfield location, while traditional custom orthotics are offered at all Midwest Podiatry Centers offices.

What to Expect During the Fitstation® Process:

  • 3D Foot Scanning: You stand on the Fitstation® scanner, which uses nine laser-powered cameras to capture a highly detailed digital image of each foot up to the ankle.
  • Gait & Pressure Analysis: You walk across a sensitive pressure plate that records how your foot strikes the ground, pressure distribution, timing, and force in real time.
  • Custom Prescription: We analyze this data along with your physical exam and symptoms to design your personalized orthotic.
  • 3D Printing: Your prescription is sent electronically to the lab, where your orthotics are precisely 3D printed using advanced materials.

Benefits of 3D-Printed Orthotics:

  • Thinner and more lightweight design
  • Greater accuracy and customization
  • Easier adjustments when needed
  • Environmentally friendly, low-waste production

Custom Orthotics for All Ages

Custom orthotics can provide lifelong foot support, from childhood through adulthood and into the senior years. With proper care, most orthotics last several years, but annual inspections are recommended to ensure they continue to function correctly.

Because children’s feet grow quickly, we offer a Fitstation® Outgrowth Program:

  • 25% discount on replacement orthotics
  • Valid if a child outgrows their orthotics within 18 months
  • Available for unlimited reorders during that time

This program ensures children receive consistent support as they grow—without unnecessary expense.
